Privacy Policy

How DecodePersonality handles test answers, cookies, analytics, ads, contact messages, children's privacy, and your rights.

Last updated September 6, 2026

1. Introduction and Data Controller

DecodePersonality (“the Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a free 16-type personality assessment website operated by CyberRudra Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use DecodePersonality.com, why it is collected, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how you can ask questions or exercise your rights. It also covers cookies, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and the choices you have for ads and measurement.

The Service includes the 60-statement assessment, the on-device scoring that turns those answers into four letters, the saved result in this browser, the 16 type pages, the scoring and item-bank pages, the contact form, and third-party advertising and analytics that appear on or run with those pages. It does not include any third-party website you reach by following a link or an ad.

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, discontinue use of the Service. Taking the test, reading a type page, sending a contact message, or viewing a page that shows ads are all uses of the Service.

1.1 Data controller

The data controller for personal data processed through this Service is CyberRudra Technologies. “Controller” means the organization that decides why and how personal data is processed. CyberRudra Technologies decides how contact messages, hosting logs, and our use of Google Analytics and Google AdSense are handled. Google LLC and its advertising partners are independent controllers or joint controllers for some advertising and analytics data they collect through their own cookies and tags. For privacy questions, data-access requests, or deletion requests that we can fulfill, use the details in Section 12.

1.2 What this policy does not cover

This policy does not describe every practice of Google (which provides Analytics, AdSense, and a spam check on the contact form), of our hosting or email providers acting as processors, or of any external site you open from a link or an advertisement. Those organizations have their own policies. We also do not control what your browser, device, school, workplace, or internet provider logs on their own systems.

1.3 Related pages

Our Terms & Conditions set the rules for using the site, including advertisements. Our Trust & Standards page explains what a result is and is not, and who operates the Service. Those pages work together with this policy. If a sentence here and a sentence there seem to conflict, the more specific rule for that topic applies.

2. Information Collection and Use

DecodePersonality is designed so that taking the test does not require you to identify yourself. Most visitors never type personal information to us. Hosting logs are created automatically when a page loads. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may collect technical and usage data through cookies and similar technologies, as described in this section and Section 3. The only time we receive information you typed is when you choose to write through the contact form or email.

2.1 Log data

When you open a page, our hosting provider records standard technical information. That is ordinary website infrastructure. It exists so the site can stay online, so broken requests can be diagnosed, and so abuse (such as flooding the server) can be investigated. That log data may include:

  • Your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system and approximate device type
  • The page address you requested on DecodePersonality
  • Time and date of the request
  • Referring URL, when the browser sends one
  • A success or error code for that request, and similar technical status information

How long raw log files are kept depends on the hosting configuration and is separate from analytics retention described in Section 2.2. Logs are used for operations, performance, and security. They are not used to reconstruct your test answers, because those answers are never sent to the server. A log that shows you opened the scoring page is not the same thing as a record of how you answered statement 17.

2.2 Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use DecodePersonality. That includes which pages are viewed, approximate geography, device and browser type, referring sites, and how people move through the site. Google may collect your IP address (which Google may truncate or process depending on its settings and your region), cookie identifiers, and interactions with our pages. Google uses this data to give us aggregated statistics.

We do not send your individual test answers or your four-letter result to Google Analytics. Those stay in this browser as described in Section 2.3. Analytics can still show that someone opened the test page or a type page. That is a page view, not a copy of your answers.

For how Google processes Analytics data, read Google’s Privacy Policy, the Google Analytics Terms of Service, and Google’s Analytics data privacy and security help. You can limit some measurement by blocking cookies, using a tracking-protection browser, or installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google Account users can also review some Google privacy controls in that account.

2.3 Test answers and results

The assessment runs entirely in your browser. You move through 60 statements. Each answer is stored on your device while you work. When you finish, the scoring formula published on the How We Score page runs on that same device and produces four letters plus a lean percentage for each pair. Both the answers and the resulting profile are written to that browser’s local storage.

Those values are not transmitted to our servers. The site has no account system and no endpoint that receives answers. We do not maintain a database of individual question responses tied to your name, email, or an account. We do not require an account to start or finish the test.

Your individual answers are not used to build a marketing profile of you. They are not provided to advertisers as a record of your responses. They are not exchanged with any third party for money. Because we never receive them, we also cannot attach them to an advertising file. Standard hosting logs, Google Analytics (Section 2.2), and advertising tools (Section 3) may still record that you visited certain pages and general technical data. Under California law, collection of that advertising data through cookies may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (see Section 7). Those activities are not used to reconstruct a permanent record of each answer you selected.

Your result lives on one device, in one browser. Clearing site data for this domain, using private or incognito browsing, switching browsers, or switching devices means the stored progress and result are gone. The test has to be taken again if you want a result on the new device. That is the trade we accepted in exchange for not asking for your email.

If you leave the test unfinished, only the progress saved in that browser remains. Closing the tab does not send the half-finished answers to us.

2.4 Contact form

If you use the contact form, we collect the information you submit so we can read the request and reply by email. The fields are:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Inquiry type: General inquiry, Test support, Results help, Press & partners, or Privacy request
  • Message

We use this only to understand the request, route it, and reply. We do not add the address to a marketing list. We do not sell the message. We do not use it to retarget you with ads. If you choose Privacy request, we may need to confirm that the email in the form matches the record you want reviewed before we act.

Messages reach our team by email. Transmission may involve our hosting provider and the email service that delivers the message. Those providers act as processors for that purpose. They are not given your test answers, because we do not have those answers.

You may also write directly to support@decodepersonality.com. A message sent that way is still a contact record. The same limits apply: we use it to reply, we do not add you to a list, and we keep it only as described in Section 5.

2.5 Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files a site or a third party can store on your device. Similar technologies include pixels, local storage, and advertising identifiers. DecodePersonality uses these in three groups:

  • Local storage for the test. Progress and your finished result are saved in this browser’s local storage so you can return to them on the same device. That file is not sent with later page requests the way a tracking cookie is.
  • Analytics cookies and identifiers set by Google Analytics, so we can see aggregated use of the site as described in Section 2.2.
  • Advertising cookies, pixels, and identifiers set by Google AdSense and its advertising partners, so ads can be delivered, measured, and (where allowed) personalized, as described in Section 3.

Third parties, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers, as a result of ads and analytics on this site. We do not control the cookies those companies set. The required Google data-usage and advertising links are in Section 3.2.

You can control many cookies in your browser settings (block, delete, or allow only first-party cookies). Blocking cookies may stop some ads or analytics from working as intended. It does not always clear local storage, so if you want a saved result gone you should clear site data for this domain, not only third-party cookies. Advertising opt-out links are listed in Section 3.4.

Where your local law requires consent before non-essential cookies are stored, use the cookie or privacy choices shown on the page, if any, and the browser and industry tools in this policy. Google and its partners may also show their own consent or personalization controls.

2.6 Contact form spam check

The contact page uses a Google spam check so automated scripts are less able to flood the form. When you complete that check, Google may collect and process device and usage signals (for example, how the page is used and technical data about the browser) according to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

We receive a verification result from Google that tells us whether the submission looks like a person rather than a bot. We do not receive a copy of every signal Google used to reach that result. We do not control Google’s processing beyond choosing to place that check on the contact form. If you do not want to use the form, you can email support@decodepersonality.com instead.

3. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising

DecodePersonality uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising network operated by Google LLC, to display advertisements. AdSense program policies require this Privacy Policy to include specific external links: how Google uses data from this site, and where you can opt out of personalized ads. Those links are in Sections 3.2 and 3.4. We do not currently run any advertising network other than Google AdSense, so this page does not list a separate privacy policy for another ad vendor.

3.1 How advertising works on this site

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to DecodePersonality and/or other sites on the internet.

When you view a page that shows AdSense ads, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies and similar technologies on your device. Those technologies let them deliver ads, measure whether an ad was shown or clicked, limit how often you see the same ad, and (where consent or other lawful basis allows) personalize ads from your browsing on this site and elsewhere.

We do not choose the specific ad you see in most cases. We do not send your test answers to AdSense as targeting inputs. An ad network can still infer interest from the page you are on (for example, that you opened a personality-type article).

3.2 How Google uses data from this site

AdSense requires publishers to give visitors a clear link to Google’s data-usage page. That required page is How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Related Google documents:

Those pages are Google’s documents, not ours. They explain cookies, identifiers, and how Google and its partners use data collected when ads or measurement run on DecodePersonality.

3.3 Personalized advertising and consent

Where you have consented, or where consent is not required by your local law, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies and similar technologies to serve interest-based ads on this Service. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Google and its partners may present consent or personalization choices before certain advertising cookies are used. You can change or withdraw those choices through the controls they display, through your browser, and through the opt-out links in Section 3.4.

If you refuse personalized ads, you may still see ads. Those ads are more likely to be contextual (based on the page) rather than based on a long-term profile.

3.4 Opting out of personalized advertising

AdSense requires this policy to tell you how to opt out of personalized ads. You can do that at any time here:

These tools are run by Google or by industry groups. An opt-out is often stored in a cookie, so clearing cookies can reset it. You may need to opt out again on each browser and device. Browser “Do Not Track” is covered in Section 7.4. California sale and sharing rights are covered in Section 7.2 and 7.3.

3.5 Other ad networks

AdSense program policies say that if we run ad networks other than AdSense, we must link to those vendors’ privacy policies. We do not currently add a second advertising network of our own. Google AdSense is the advertising service on this site. Google may still work with its own advertising partners to fill a slot. Those partners are covered by the Google data-usage page linked in Section 3.2. We do not control their ads or their cookies.

If we later add another advertising partner besides Google AdSense, this policy will name that partner, link to that partner’s privacy policy, and move the “Last updated” date.

3.6 Third-party advertising disclaimer

We do not control the content of advertisements or the cookies placed by Google AdSense and its downstream vendors. Third-party ad servers automatically receive your IP address when an ad is requested. Cookies and similar technologies may be used to measure ads and to personalize what you see.

DecodePersonality has no access to or control over cookies used by those advertisers. Clicking an ad leaves this site. Your purchase or other dealing with an advertiser is between you and that advertiser. See also Section 10 and the advertisements section of the Terms & Conditions.

4. How We Share Information

4.1 Service providers

We share contact messages only with the providers who host the website, deliver email, and run the contact-form spam check, and only so they can process that information on our behalf. They are not permitted to use a DecodePersonality contact message for their own marketing.

Google receives analytics and advertising data as described in Sections 2.2 and 3 because we chose to use those products. That is not the same as handing Google a file of your test answers. There is no assessment-answer file to share, because we never receive the answers or the four-letter result.

4.2 Legal and business transfers

We may disclose information we actually hold if we are required to do so by law, if we need to protect the rights and safety of DecodePersonality or other people, or if the business that operates the site is transferred (for example, a merger or sale of assets). In a transfer, contact records and operational logs could move with the Service. Test answers would not, because they were never on our servers.

4.3 What we do not do

We do not sell contact lists. We do not rent or trade the messages you send us. We do not use your answers to make automated decisions about credit, hiring, insurance, or housing. We do not build a dossier that combines a type result with your name, because the result never reaches us attached to a name.

We do allow Google AdSense and Google Analytics to collect identifiers and usage data through cookies and similar technologies. Under some US state laws, that can count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for advertising. That is different from selling your email address. See Section 7.

5. Data Retention

5.1 Contact messages

Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request and to keep a short record of what was asked and what we replied. When that operational need ends, we delete the message. If you later ask us to delete a contact record, we will do so unless we must keep a copy to meet a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute.

5.2 Server logs

Server logs are kept for a short operational period set by our hosting provider. They exist to keep the site running and to investigate errors or abuse. They are rotated and discarded on that provider’s schedule. We do not treat logs as a permanent archive of who you are.

5.3 Assessment data

Your assessment answers and results are held only by your own browser, for as long as you leave them there. We do not set a server-side expiry date because we do not hold a server-side copy. If you want the data gone, clear site data for this domain. If you want a copy, you already have it in that browser until you clear it. We cannot email you a lost result, because we never stored one.

5.4 Analytics and advertising data

Google controls how long Google Analytics and AdSense data are kept on Google’s systems. We can change some Analytics retention settings in our Google account. We cannot delete an advertising identifier from every partner that may have seen an ad request. Use the opt-out tools in Section 3.4 and Google’s own privacy controls for that data.

6. Special Notice to Parents and Guardians (COPPA)

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires that online services obtain parental consent before knowingly collecting personal information from children under 13. Google’s publisher rules also restrict interest-based advertising on sites directed to children under 13. This section explains how DecodePersonality applies those rules. Similar age limits appear in other countries. We use 13 as the line for this Service.

6.1 Age restrictions

DecodePersonality is not directed to children under 13. The test, type pages, and advertisements are written and configured for a general audience of adults and teens 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect, keep, or use personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 (most likely a contact-form message), we will take steps to delete it.

6.2 Advertising and children

Because this site is not directed to children under 13, we do not treat it as a COPPA child-directed property for Google advertising. We do not use interest-based advertising to target a visitor we know is under 13. We do not ask a child’s age in order to personalize ads. Parents and guardians should know that Google AdSense and Analytics may still set cookies for general-audience traffic, as described in Sections 2.2, 2.5, and 3.

If you are a parent and do not want advertising or analytics cookies on a device a child uses, use browser controls, the opt-out links in Section 3.4, and do not let a child under 13 submit the contact form.

6.3 How the test treats younger visitors

A free personality test can attract younger readers. The assessment still works as Section 2.3 describes: no account, no name or email to take the test, and answers stay on the device. We do not offer a child-specific test or a public profile for a child. Individual answers are not sent to advertisers as a record of responses.

6.4 Parental rights

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has sent us personal information (for example, through the contact form), contact us as described in Section 12. We will take steps to remove that information. Parents may ask us to:

  • Review any personal information we may have collected from their child
  • Delete that information
  • Refuse any further collection or use of that information

We cannot delete a test result that exists only on a child’s device. That copy is removed by clearing site data in that browser. We also cannot delete every advertising cookie a third party set. Use the links in Section 3.4 for those.

6.5 Contact form

The contact form collects name, email, inquiry type, and message, and it uses the spam check described in Section 2.6. Children under 13 should not submit the form without parental consent. If we discover that a child under 13 has done so, we will delete that submission.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Those rights apply to personal data we actually hold, and in some cases to advertising or analytics data processed by Google. For most visitors, the data we hold ourselves is a contact message, not a test result, because the result never reaches us.

7.1 Rights under GDPR (EEA and UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have the right to:

  • Access: request copies of personal data we hold about you, such as a contact message you sent
  • Rectification: ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Erasure: ask us to erase personal data, under the conditions the law sets
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we process personal data, under certain conditions
  • Portability: request that we transfer data you provided to you or to another organization, under certain conditions
  • Object to processing, under certain conditions
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent (for example, cookie or ad-personalization choices, or a contact message you asked us to delete)

Where GDPR applies, we process contact messages because you asked us to reply (a request you initiated) and because we have a legitimate interest in answering support, press, and privacy questions and in keeping the site secure. Hosting logs are processed for the legitimate interest of running and protecting the Service. Analytics and advertising cookies that need consent are processed on the basis of that consent, or another basis Google states in its own policy, when consent is not required.

Formal privacy-rights requests we can fulfill are answered within 30 days, unless the law allows more time for a complex request. We will tell you if we need that extra time. Requests about data only Google holds should also be directed to Google through its privacy tools.

7.2 Rights under California law (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Request deletion, subject to certain exceptions
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Allowing Google AdSense and its partners to collect identifiers from your device through cookies and similar technologies for cross-context behavioral advertising may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” under California law
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information, where that category applies
  • Be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We will not charge you a different price or reduce the free test because you made a privacy request

We do not sell your name, email, or contact message for money. We do not sell test answers, because we do not have them. The advertising cookies described in Section 3 are the activity that may count as a sale or sharing for ads.

7.3 How to exercise your rights

For a copy, correction, or deletion of a contact record we hold, use the Privacy request topic on Contact Us or email support@decodepersonality.com. Say what you want, and include the email tied to the message. Reply times are in Section 12.

To opt out of sale or sharing for advertising, use any of these:

  • The Google and industry opt-out pages listed in Section 3.4
  • Cookie or ad-personalization controls shown on the page, if any
  • A Privacy request or email to support@decodepersonality.com asking us to record an opt-out for a contact we can identify

We may need to confirm that a request about a contact record comes from the person it concerns. We will not ask you to retake the test or to send us your four-letter result as proof of identity. We will ask only for enough detail to find the contact record, if one exists. We cannot delete advertising data that lives only on Google’s systems. Use Google’s tools for that.

7.4 Browser signals

We do not currently respond to the older “Do Not Track” header. A site is not required to act on that signal. For advertising opt-outs, use Section 3.4. If your browser sends other privacy signals, we will treat them as the law requires when we have a working way to honor them. Clearing site data in your browser is still the way to remove a local test result.

8. Security of Your Data

The security of the information we do receive matters. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures, including:

  • HTTPS (TLS) encryption for pages and for contact-form submissions, so a message is encrypted in transit between your browser and our servers
  • Hosting with regular security updates and monitoring for obvious abuse or outages
  • Access to contact messages limited to people who need to reply
  • Periodic review of how we collect and handle contact data

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. There are limits inherent to the internet that we do not control. You acknowledge that the security of any information exchanged with us cannot be guaranteed in absolute terms.

Assessment answers and results live on your device. Their security also depends on that browser, that device, and who else can unlock it. If you take the test on a shared computer, clear site data when you finish if you do not want the next person to see the result. Advertising and analytics cookies on a shared device can also be seen by the next person who uses that browser.

9. International Data Transfers

DecodePersonality is operated from India. If you access the Service from another country, any information you send us (for example, a contact message) may be transferred to and processed in India, where the operator is based. Data protection laws there may differ from those in your country.

Using the site and submitting a message means you understand that transfer. Hosting and email providers may also process that message on servers in other countries as part of delivering mail. Google may process analytics, advertising, and spam-check data in the United States and other countries, as described in Google’s own policies. Assessment answers never leave your browser, so they are not transferred to us in India or anywhere else.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, the law, or our practices change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to read this page again from time to time.

If a change materially affects your rights or how we handle personal data, we will post a notice on the site before the change takes effect. Continued use of DecodePersonality after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy. If you do not accept it, stop using the Service and, if you wish, ask us to delete any contact record we hold.

12. Contact Us

Questions about this policy, a data access or deletion request, or a GDPR, CCPA, DPDP, or COPPA inquiry can be sent to support@decodepersonality.com or through our Contact Us form with the Privacy request topic. We typically reply within 1 to 2 business days for general messages and within 30 days for formal privacy-rights requests.

13. Technical Statement: Data Processing

This is a short index, not a new practice. Scoring and saved results: Section 2.3. Hosting logs: Section 2.1. Contact messages and the spam check: Sections 2.4 and 2.6. Analytics and ads: Sections 2.2, 2.5, and 3. If those practices change, this policy will change first and the “Last updated” date will move.
